LINKTOKEEP
LinkToKeep vs mp4yt
Two YouTube-capable services compared on formats, resolution and what each says about the file you get.
What mp4yt shows on its site
mp4yt presents a YouTube-oriented homepage with links to other platforms and learning content. Its name sets an expectation that downloads arrive as MP4.
The MP4 question
YouTube publishes its best video and best audio as separate streams, and the container has to hold both codecs. When the best streams are AV1 or Opus, MP4 cannot carry them and MKV is used instead. Any service promising MP4 for every video is either re-encoding the file, which costs quality and time, or handing over an older lower-quality stream. LinkToKeep says which you are getting and why, and offers a resolution cap when the container matters more than the last increment of quality.

A fair caveat
We have not measured mp4yt’s download behaviour the way we measured the others, so this page compares what its site presents against what ours does. Try a link you own on both and compare the file you actually receive.
