Videos and Reels take different URL shapes

A Facebook video usually sits on a watch URL or a post permalink, while a Reel has its own short address. Both tools run the same inspection, so either accepts either shape; the pages differ in the guidance around the result. What matters more is that the post is genuinely public rather than visible only to you because of who you are signed in as.

Check visibility from a signed-out browser

Facebook is the platform where the gap between what you can see and what a server can see is widest. A video posted to friends, to a private group, or by a page with regional limits will open for you and fail here. The quickest check is to open the link in a private window with no session; if it does not play there, no downloader reaches it without your credentials, which we do not take.

Expect refusals even on public posts

Facebook actively limits automated access, so a public video can still be declined at the point of request. That is a server-side block rather than a restriction on the post, and repeating the submission is unlikely to clear it. Waiting is more effective than retrying.

Questions before you download

Why does a video play for me but fail here?

Your browser is signed in and ours is not. Open the link in a private window to see what the downloader sees.

Are private group videos supported?

No. Anything requiring a session or group membership is out of scope.

Do Reels need the Reels page?

No. Both tools inspect the link the same way; the Reels page simply covers that format.
