Three places an Instagram video can live
A video can be a normal feed post, a Reel, or one slide inside a carousel. All three start from the post link, and inspection works out which one you gave it, so you do not have to choose the right tool first. A carousel that mixes photos and video returns an archive rather than a single file.
Feed video and Reel are not the same URL
A Reel has its own /reel/ address, and the same clip shared to the feed can carry a /p/ address. Either is accepted. What does not work is a profile link or a link to an audio page, because neither names one video.
What you get back
Resolution options follow the post, commonly up to 1080p, and audio is included when the source carries it. Nothing is upscaled, and no watermark is added or removed: an overlay that the creator burned into the video stays part of the picture.
Know the limits
Downloads are limited to 1 GB, videos to one hour, and galleries to 50 items. Files are available for one hour after completion. Availability is checked for each link; private, login-restricted and DRM-protected media are not supported.
Questions before you download
Can I download a video from a carousel post?
Yes. Carousels return an archive, and you can tick individual slides before downloading rather than taking all of them.
Does it work with instagram.com/share links?
Yes. Share links from the app are resolved to the underlying post first.
Can I download video from a private account?
No. Content that needs a logged-in session is out of reach, and no account credentials are ever requested.
How do I download an Instagram video to my phone?
Submit the post link in a mobile browser and use Save file when the job finishes. On iOS the file usually lands in the Files app.
Can I download Instagram video in HD?
Resolution follows the post, commonly up to 1080p. A lower-resolution upload is never upscaled.
Can I download just one video from a carousel?
Yes. Carousel items can be ticked individually before the download starts.
Does the download include the audio?
Yes, when the post carries a sound track. Silent posts stay silent.
