How to download
- Copy the URL of a public post or video you have permission to save.
- Paste it above and select Get media. Wait for the available formats.
- Choose a format and select Download. When processing finishes, select Save file.
Choose quality after inspecting the link
Use Best available for the highest quality the extractor returns, or choose a resolution cap when offered. A 720p cap does not upscale a lower-resolution source. Higher quality can produce a larger file and take longer to process.
Why the file may be MKV instead of MP4
YouTube can supply audio and video separately. LinkToKeep downloads those streams and combines them. The resulting container can be MP4 or MKV depending on the source codecs. The app does not promise an MP4 for every video.
When a YouTube link cannot be downloaded
Private videos, members-only content, live streams and DRM-protected media are not supported. A public video can also fail when YouTube blocks a server request. This tool does not accept account cookies or remove access restrictions.
Know the limits
Downloads are limited to 1 GB, videos to one hour, and galleries to 50 items. Files are available for one hour after completion. Availability is checked for each link; private, login-restricted and DRM-protected media are not supported.
Questions before you download
Can I download YouTube Shorts?
You can submit a public Shorts URL. Availability is checked for that individual link; not every Shorts link is guaranteed to work.
Can I download a whole playlist?
This release processes a single video rather than a complete playlist.
Is audio-only available?
An MP3 option is shown when the inspected media exposes a supported audio stream.
Can I download YouTube videos in 1080p or 4K?
Resolution options reflect the source. When a video publishes 1440p or 2160p, those caps are offered alongside 1080p, 720p and 480p. Best available always requests the highest the extractor returns. A 4K download is large: the service caps output at 1 GB, which a few minutes of 2160p can reach.
Do I need to install software or an extension?
No. The workspace runs in your browser. There is no desktop app, browser extension or account to create.
Does it work on a phone?
Yes, the interface works in a mobile browser. Your browser decides where the saved file is stored, so check its download list afterwards.
Why is my YouTube download an MKV file?
YouTube often supplies video and audio as separate streams. Those are merged locally, and the container is chosen from the source codecs, so it can be MP4 or MKV. Renaming the extension does not convert the file.
