LinkToKeep vs SaveMedia
SaveMedia hands back the platform’s own media link. That is a real architectural difference worth understanding.
What we observed, and why it matters
Submitting an Instagram post to SaveMedia returned media on scontent-bos5-1.cdninstagram.com, which is Instagram’s own content network. The file therefore goes straight from Instagram to your device without passing through SaveMedia. That is genuinely different from LinkToKeep, Vidssave and SnapInsta, which all serve media from their own hosts.
The trade-off that comes with it
Handing back a platform link works where that link is publicly fetchable, which is often true for Instagram images. It does not work for YouTube, whose media URLs are short-lived and tied to the session that requested them, and it cannot merge separate video and audio streams or convert audio to MP3, because no server ever holds the file. SaveMedia lists four platforms; those constraints are part of why.

Which is better
For a single Instagram image, the direct link is the leaner path and we would not argue otherwise. For a Reddit video that needs its audio merged, a YouTube file that needs two streams combined, or an MP3, a server has to hold the file for a moment. That is the cost of the features, and it is why ours are stated with a time limit.
